Αυγουστιάτικη Πανσέληνος στο Μουσείο / Full moon night at the Museum

*for English keep reading

A tour to the Museum is one of these cases that we don't really care about when we are young and we are in a hurry to go and play with our friends, but when we're older, there is not enough time for us to explore them, nor our minds can absorb all this information we need. That's my case. Whenever I am in a Museum, I want to forget myself there. Moreover, when we are young, a trip downtown to see the August full moon is nothing compared to staring any star with the boy / girl that we like. And growing up, we choose without second thoughts this Stroll to the museum and the City center, either with or without the boy / girl that we like. I watched for the first time the August Full Moon a few days ago. And I decided to enjoy it -among thousands of others who had the same idea and desire-in the Acropolis museum.
The most beautiful part of the city was full of people who miraculously appeared in an otherwise-empty Athens to walk in Dionysiou Areopagitou street, get free entrance at the Museum to photograph the moon and the illuminated Parthenon (I have only seen so many mobile phones photographing simultaneously in concerts) and find an occasion to be happy, for no particular reason. That's my case. I do not know what moved me more -that the Museum filled with visitors? -The thought that we are not "poor" when we have this past and history to follow? -this bright moon that awakens my desire to learn astronomy and get to see it better, almost touch it? Maybe all this together. But more the thought that out there many many eyes looked exactly the same moon and perhaps made the same thoughts as myself.

  2. What wonderful pictures and what an experience!
I remember reading all about the August full moon in the book" Six nights on the Acropolis" George Seferis.
Before reading this book I didn"t know that on that night the Acropolis is open all night ,untill dawn ,so that people can see the full moon illuminating the white marble.
Does this still happen, the Acropolis open to the public all night?
