Winter Sunshine

The car went out of town, passed between green meadows and sloped up a small hill. It stopped at the beginning of a field full of daisies and olive trees, at the end of the road, overlooking the city and sea. The parents came out of the car first holding a meter and some architectural drawings, followed by three eager little girls. Soon after, the girls were lost among the daisies or sat on the branches of the trees. A few months later, three buildings have replaced the olive trees. The parents and the girls lived in the middle house. In front of the house and at the backyard beautiful gardens awaited for them to play. Soon they started to run all around, to chase each other and construct makeshift tents, using old linen from mom's closet, they laughed, they were throwing big birthday parties and they were happy, carefree.
Yes, that's right. These three girls are my sisters and me. I must admit there is not  greater blessing than growing up in the countryside. Waking up and seeing the sea every day, listening to the roosters and birds every morning, having pets and observing the trees and the flowers growing and blooming, enjoying the serenity, the sun and feeling complete. These pictures come back every time I, too, come back, as a resident of the big city, at home. (just like it did this weekend...)

PS: Besides, I am still a little girl for at least two persons in this world...

    1. I remember Susan, I 've been there! hehe! The fact is we truly realise what it feels like to grow up in the countryside, when we are far away, in the grey big city. xxx
