Woody, oh Woody!

Dear Woody,
After watching Blue Jasmine last night, I just can't help myself from loving you a little bit more. Or a lot more. I've been thinking about my future lately, about what's next for me. I usually do that on August every year, because September marks a new beginning, a new season and I need to feel like I am doing something new, something bigger and better. I think I have to do that now that I'm still young and have plenty of time. But, there you are, proving me wrong, showing me that it ain't so. You are a role model, because not only you keep working without taking a break, but also you keep inspiring us through your movies and stories. So, age is nothing but a number and it is never too late to become what you might have been. Lesson learned.
Moreover you are an honest story-teller. By that I mean that you are not trying to make us feel comfortable in our skins or show us a fantastic amazing world that does not exist. You write about reality, you describe real stories and problems we can all relate to. Jasmine is a woman like many women out there: vulnerable, victims of a marriage or an "ideal" life, anxious and scared, women that are reluctant to take a decision on their own and change their ordinary life. I have had panic attacks in the past. Not for the same reasons as Jasmine, but I know what it feels like to be unable to breath or think clear. Although it is all over now, I will never forget this feeling and I will never stop worrying about this happening again. It amazes me how you manage to understand so well the complicated female soul. It also amazes me that you don't hesitate to criticize the men's behavior.
So, dear Woody,
Thank you for this movie, thank you for the inspiring dialogues, thank you for making us laugh and cry, thank you for reminding us we are not alone, thank you for making Art look so simple and absolutely necessary, thank you for proving that we can remain creative and alive for as long as we want to, and thank you for giving the amazing Cate Blanchett one more chance to shine.
Love from a true fan,
N.

PS: "Anxiety, nightmares and a nervous breakdown, there’s only so many traumas a person can withstand until they take to the streets and start screaming" (Jasmine)
